Achieve 3000

 

Gadsden Elementary School District #32 has adopted the Achieve 3000 programs as a supplemental program to support instruction and learning. Our goal is to provide additional resources and support for students in order to increase student lexile levels and reading comprehension abilities. 

 

Smarty Ants is a early literacy program that supports students in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade with phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency skills in a game-like setting. Students are able to monitor their own progress as they master skills and move on to more challenging lessons. Teachers are able to monitor student progress and identify specific areas of need where students need more support. 

 

KidBiz is used by teachers and students in grades 3-5. The online reading program supports reading fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and critical thinking skills. 

 

TeenBiz is used by teachers and students in grades 6-8. Like KidBiz, it is an online reading program that supports supports reading fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and critical thinking skills, but it is  presented on a more age appropriate interface. 

 

All students will take a LevelSet assessment to ensure appropriate placements before they begin working on their assigned program. As students work through the lesson and complete activities or assessments on their profiles, their skill level or lexile level adjusts to reflect progress. Students also take a mid-year LevelSet assessment and an end-of-year LevelSet assessment to collect benchmark data for all schools in the district. 

 

Achieve 3000 representatives support Gadsden Elementary School District #32 with professional development days in which teachers are trained on using the program, analyzing data, monitoring student progress, and more. Initial training takes place during the district's Pre-Service days to start off the school year. 

 

The Write Up A Storm team also supports teachers with the implementation of Achieve 3000 in the classroom. The WUAS strategies and routines are used in conjunction with the Achieve 3000 in order to provide reading instruction that is aligned to the standards.
